Additional Allergens/Modifications
Dairy: sub a dairy free cheese and butter
The cheese can be mixed and matched depending on your flavor preference. This combo is one of my go-to favorites. If you’d like a more traditional option, use raw cheddar cheese or American cheese. Using mayo is a hack that allows the bread to cook longer with a higher heat point than butter, preventing burning and it doesn’t change the flavor profile. Cooking with butter adds that delicious buttery flavor to the outside but does run the risk of burning. Either will work, mayo is much more care free of an option.
